Patangatanga - Maori for Starfish.
Patangatanga Cottage is an original 1920s Waiheke Bach. Fully
renovated in 2003, and retaining much of its character, it has
a new kitchen and bathroom, polished wooden floors, cosy living
areas, and a spacious new deck.
The cottage has a double, a twin, and a bunk bedroom, and a
sofa bed in the lounge. The kitchen is fully equipped with a
good sized fridge-freezer, a full oven, microwave etc.
The living area is comfortably and stylishly furnished, and
has a TV, DVD player, portable stereo, books, games and information
folder. A phone is connected for local calls. A cot and high
chair are available on request.
Outside, there is plenty of off-street parking for cars and
boats, and a large garage, which also stores a barbeque and
deck furniture. Behind the house is a huge deck, and good sized
lawned garden, -from the bottom of which leads a track to the
local beach.
Secluded Hook’s Bay is only a short stroll away. Despite
being a beautiful white-shelled beach, with clear water and
safe swimming, this is truly a locals’ beach, and is never
crowded, even in the height of the season.
A bus stop is nearby, and Surfdale shops are 300m down the
road. Here you will find a licensed dairy, Stefano’s Italian
Restaurant, Malone’s Irish Bar, and two takeaways.
